Road to Equality in Trinity College

We are delighted to announce that Senator David Norris will formally launch the Road to Equality exhibition at Trinity College on Thursday 20th October at 6pm.

The exhibition will be open to the public in the Hamilton Building until Friday 4th November.

The exhibition remembers and celebrates the 40 years of LGBT activism in Ireland. It pays tribute to many brave lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people who fought for they rights, in the times when it was extremely courageous to do so. The transformation in attitudes to gay and lesbian people is one of the most radical changes in Irish society of the past few decades. This change would never have happened without the bravery and dedication of LGBT activists through the years. They hard work and dedication lead us to historic moment, when in May 2015 the people of Ireland voted ‘Yes’ in the marriage referendum and Ireland became the first country in the world to introduce marriage equality by public vote.

The Road to Equality is organised by Dialogue & Diversity and National LGBT Federation and showcases material from the Irish Queer Archives combined with the archives of many LGBT groups.
